    Default Disturbing Site Today

    Intersection of Broadway and Iowa.
MC down in middle of intersection. Body down with leg wrapped over handlebars, helmet 10 feet away. "Joe Blow" walking away from the body with 2 fire extinguishers, everything looked burnt with ashes (maybe extinguisher residue?). While the scene was disturbing enough, to me, what was more disturbing was the number of cell phones out snapping pictures and video. I'm not a MC guy but it would seems most crashes the rider would be sent separated from the bike. And is would catching fire be rare? It wasn't a large bike, from what I could tell it appeared to be more dirt bIke size.

Oh man, no shit.....been riding since 1970, but haven't for a few years due to injuries (not riding related). But never really been scared of riding until I moved here. Fuckin' traffic here is just nuts.

As the 2000's became more populated with less people paying attention, that was the time i felt it was necessary to actually wear a helmet. One more reason we left CO was the insane amount of traffic, whose drivers felt a stop sign, or red light was an option not heeded.

    Damn...stay safe out there, folks!

Fires are not uncommon in bike crashes because the fuel tank on most bikes is pretty vulnerable.

When a motorcycle runs into something or get head on impact, the rider will slide forward over the fuel tank and the legs impact the handlebars on the upper thighs. A hard enough impact and the legs will break and the rider can stay attached to the motorcycle after impact. I am sure that you can visualize the rest. After 54 years in the saddle I have seen my share of bad accidents. I still ride and enjoy my time in the wind, I have been wearing a helmet for 54 years along with the proper apparel (most of the time). Two broken wrists (off road) and one broken arm (street when 17 years old) I am pretty lucky I guess.

Prayers up for the rider in the above accident.

I've seen fuel leaks on bikes that were laid over, but I think that was back in the day when everything had a carburetor.

I was downtown with some buddies a few months back and a guy jumped off the roof of a parking garage right across the street from me. People had their phones out filming his lifeless body. I think that creeped me out more than seeing the act itself. Sick fucks.
