    Default firearm SN question

When posting a firearm forsale, should I black out the SN when posting pics?

It is up to you. Some think that if someone can read your serial number, they can report the gun stolen and you will then be forced to provide proof of ownership to the PD. I imagine that is very rare if it even happens.

I am in this same catagory. I think it is pretty rare that this happens. Even the gun mags do not do this and they get far more circulation then some online equipment exchange or gunbroker. YMMV

Plus, what benefit would a person possibly have for reporting your gun is stolen? The only way they'd know that, is if it was their gun, and since they also won't be able to prove that, they'll be busted for false reporting .
