    Default 243 Win?

Got my Midway flyer the other day, and it had a 243 complete upper on sale. Checked their website, and they have a barrel, but nothing else showed up in search. Anybody heard anything? 308 lower and upper? Different BCG. My wife has a Savage Axis 243 and I'd love to build her a companion AR.

Only thing different from a .308 upper is the barrel.

.243 is just a necked down .308 case.

Buy the barrel, build everything else with .308 parts, and you'll be good to go.

I think Nemo Arms out of Nampa ID offers them. If not they do the 300 win mag.

Make sure you get an adjustable gas block with the barrel. You will need to adjust it to make the gas system work properly since the 243 can shoot 55 grain to 107 grain bullets. Very different pressure curves.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

My wife won't even shoot my 458 SOCOM, she definitely won't shoot a 300 Win Mag. And thanks for the info/input guys.

Iove my .243 AR. It's a great rifle for coyotes, and it's made more trips to Texas to kill hogs than I have.

Not sure how the two rounds really compare but I?ve been happy with my 6.5 Grendel. I do tend to prefer the standard AR15 platform over the AR10 platform. Might be an option to consider rather than the 243.

People say nothing is impossible but I do nothing every day.

There is always the 6 Grendel, aka 6AR.

Mine shoots 105 Bergers around 2700 fps from a 22 inch barrel.
