I want a PPK!

Okay,

so I'm looking to add another gun in .380...since I already got the lcp, might as well get another gun that shoots the same cartridge right?!?!

But I'm at a loss for which PPK I should get...and how much I should pay!

I know there is the original made by walther, then the imports by interarms, and finally S&W...then there are the PPK and the PPK/S...

I'm at a loss! What do you guys recommend, and have you seen any around town?

I know a guy that's moving to Philly and is selling ALL of his stuff. He's got a Walther PPK that he never even really shot. I'll see if he's selling it. How much are these things worth used?

walther's website lists them at $605 and I've seen used ones sell as low as $300, and as high as $700 recently at the gun shows...New ones I've seen sold around $500.

I think it depends on who imported it.

Since 1968, you can't import most .380's, so an original German Walther will have to be at least 41 years old.

Later years were either imported as parts, and "assembled" here, or built under license (current crop) in the US.

AFAIK, all new, current-production PPK's for sale in the US are built here by S&W under license.

Original imports will tend to command a premium for rarity and will likely be priced higher accordingly.

The PPK/S is a PP frame with a PPK slide, which gave the resulting gun enough "import points" to qualify for direct german imports after 1968, so those won't have quite the import premium as the original german import PPK's.

The PPS is cool...but the PPK is James Bond's gun!

Do I really need another .380? No...would I really carry it? Maybe, but I've been wanting a PPK since I was old enough to buy handguns!
