Default Anyone Here in or Know Someone in the Garage Door Game?

My wife pushed the close button aggressively and it folded up three of the four panels on our double garage door. That's not entirely true but the result is.

This summer, a 2x4 was leaning in the corner next to the door and at some point it slid over next to the garage door track. The next time it was opened it fell under the track and upon attempting to close it propped the door up. The opener took it as a personal affront and went full send which caused it to fold the top panel and pop the opener bracket off of the strut it was mounted to. I pushed/pulled and reattached and went on with life. Looked a little bit crinkled from the outside but worked... for a few months. The plan was to eventually make a more permanent repair but it's one of those things that I basically didn't think of again since it was working properly.

The other day my wife (she's hard on garage doors) attempted to close the door only to have it fold the top panel again, the next two and then rip the opener bracket out again. Top three panels were folded enough to rip holes so they're done. Sounds like our 13 year old panels may be difficult to replace so an entire door (16x7) is probably the solution and we may even need to replace the single door next to it (8x8) to get everything to match again. We currently have the cheapest of cheap long panels and while I'd like to go something insulated I'm not sure it's in the budget.

I don't mind doing the work myself but it's difficult to find a good price on just the panels & hardware these days. I have good wheels and decent hardware that I can reuse I just need a new top strut (unless I go insulation that has better construction) and the panels. Between Mr Google and YouTube I can figure the rest out on my own.

Does anyone have the hookups on garage door panels, hardware and possibly installation?

I replaced mine myself several years ago. I want to say the new door with all of the hardware, tracks, etc. was about $350 from Home Depot. Decided to install a new screw drive opener while I was at it. Total investment right around $500.

If you decide to go this route you'll need a trailer to get the new door home and I'd highly recommend a second set of hands for the installation. I did mine all by myself but having someone to help with the panels would have been nice.

Hmm. Either I got mine on sale or prices have gone up. Mine is a standard, 16x7 two car door and it's insulated. Looks like the smaller, single doors that are not insulated are closer to what I paid.

Remember 303ARms? (Once a member here). Andy Reinhardt. He does garage doors. I had him work on mine a couple years ago. Fast, quality workmanship, good price, and a gun guy. It was 2016 when I hired him, but I would guess he’s still in the business.

I’ll PM you his phone number.

Overhead door has done 3 for me recently. 2 doors and openers for i think 1500 installed.

New opener on older door for 576 i think.

Called them and they had a tech with opener there in 4 hours. Non emergency need too. Was great.

That doesn't mean "stairs are bad" nor does it make someone who pushes someone down the stairs any less of an asshole.

For a 2 stall insulated door? That would be a great deal.

HD Clopay R18 door with glass is ~$2K. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Clopay-C...lain/204598322

I put one in myself years ago, it was probably around $1300 as I recall.

Lowes has Pella doors cheaper, and offers a 10% mil/vet discount if applicable, but they're only R6.

We had to get a double and single door replaced this year and got 4 quotes. All were substantially higher than what I'm seeing here. We love the new doors and they've been awesome but nowhere near where I thought they'd be.
