    Since this area is heavily populated with former / retired .mil and the VA is down the road. I get a lot, like every day lot, of Thank you For not only your Service, but Sacrifice.

    Oh no this isn't service related, oh well thank you anyway.

    I feel like it's Stolen Valor, when what happened has absolutely no relation to .mil service and continually stress that to people. Like they tune it out.

    Service-related thanks aren't necessarily about you. A lot of times the one being thanked is acting as a proxy for all the others they cannot thank.
