You forgot the centrifugal clutch. A CVT transmission works in a similar manner.

From some random smart dude on the interweb search.

Astronauts in a centrifuge feel it pressing them outward. And the fact that these devices are called centrifuges implies that in certain cases it is indeed more convenient to consider this fictitious force as in some sense real.

Not to stray from this science stuff too much but I just ordered struts and shocks for my truck. Apparently 120K miles of Colorado roads were about all the original set could handle.

It looks like Tahoe's come with the same crap front suspension that my Amigo has. That's a bit of a bummer from the off-road perspective. Anyone know what kind of rear suspension they have?

I'm not sure what you're saying since the Amigo and Tahoe don't share components.

I think the rear suspension depends on year. I think it was leaf springs up through 2000 and then coil springs.

Are you referring to a torsion bar front suspension? That changed over to coil springs as well, but I'm not sure on the year.

IFS with stupid torsion bars instead of coil overs or shocks and struts. With regard to the rear, I was wondering 3, 4, 5-link suspension, coil springs or leafs. I assume the rear will be more robust than flexible.

Based on what I can find on the web, I think the last year for front torsion bars was 2006.

Torsion bars aren't that big of a deal, but in a vehicle as heavy as a Tahoe, I'm afraid the IFS components wouldn't last as long as they have on my current ride.

Anyway, this one has my attention right now.
