Default Gas station windshield chip repair?

Has anyone had experience with this? Dude approached me while I was getting gas and offered to repair a chip I had, I figured it wouldn't take that long. The whole thing felt kind of sketchy, but my insurance covered it. I'm just concerned that there may be something shady they'll pull with my insurance that may raise my rates.

    Is this a scam?

They're all over the place, like taco trucks.

As long as it's done right it's fine. Most insurance covers the repairs and pays the repair shop $60, the repair materials costs $5-$7. Six repairs a day on a five day week generates over $90,000 a year in revenue.

Some insurance companies are no longer covering the gas station glass chip repair. If it isn’t done correctly the chip cracks anyway. And there are companies who fix one chip and bill the insurance company for two or three.

I've gotten 2 cars done over at safelite, didn't cost me a dime, no appointment, etc. Just showed up, gave them my info. They handled any billing with USAA, was done in about 15 minutes, and no worries about shady outfits.

Our former ins co used safelite, who would come to the house. . Even made a call while on the road, over an issue with the replacement shield. Next day they were at the place we stayed, out of state.

The only thing anyone at a gas station has asked me for...is money.

"Hey, I got (some bullshit story) and could use some help, you got a dollar?"

Get the f away from me right now, asshole.

I bought a kit from Amazon for $12 and did it myself. Really, very easy.

I've used Safelite. If the repair fails, they'll apply the repair cost toward a replacement windshield.

For our extreme temperature changes in Colorado I highly recommend getting it done professionally and at a well know repair shop. Insurance covers it anyways so why go for minute steak when a bone in ribeye costs the same.

It needs to be injected so it fills all the cracks or it will just spread anyways
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.
