And I resent the stereotype that you think we're all just loading up mags waiting... but I'm also realistic that alone I lack the power to change what has a lot of money and power behind it (politics)... I'm not waiting for it to happen, but I also have no delusions of grandeur that I can stop it as an ordinary citizen.
I don't think you read very far before you made up your mind.... or at least you didn't keep an open mind. There are cases where there are riots on the streets, and if it gets bad enough in Urban areas, then there could be those that plan to "bug out" trying to escape the mass violence. If enough people decide to do that that don't have plans and arrangements made, some criminal types could decide that home invasions in rural areas are a solution. IF there is enough breakdown of law enforcement, you could be on your own in defending your rural homestead. With enough of this being a problem, neighborhoods could band together to defend whole areas of countryside.... now we're not THAT far off from what he's talking about. Throw in some Gov't agency deciding that disarming everyone in the country (ala post Katrina) is a good idea, and you're there.
That's a LOT of IFs, but I also don't dismiss based on "it won't happen here"... it has happened in other places of the world. But it's also not like I'm in my storm shelter stacking ammo all day long.
