Curious how large the cat really was.
A necropsy revealed the mountain lion was about 4 to 5 months old and weighed between 35 and 40 pounds when alive, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

So, a big bobcat with a lack of hunting/killing skills.
Not quite the Sampson story that seems to be circulating.

I don't want to wrestle with a pissed off 8 pound house cat, much less a wild one 5 times that size. I know a guy that ended up with over a hundred stitches as the result of a bobcat encounter, so I'm not gonna bag on this guy. Yeah, it wasn't a 100 pound adult, but it wasn't a joke either.

Im glad the man is going to be okay but the whole thing bothers me actually & I wish folks would just leave it. The animal was hungry & desperate & became dinner instead. It was only a matter of time.

    Done.

I've been on the receiving end of a pissed off 8 pound house cat and it's not pretty.

But also not pretty for the cat when they land at the bottom of the basement stairs at a high rate of speed. (There were no animals harmed during this particular incident)

He pinned it to the ground and stood on its neck.

My mom's heard that it was about 40 pounds, so still a very, very young cat. She speculates that means its mother was killed and that it never properly learned to hunt. That's increased by the fact that its stomach only had a small amount of vegetative material, and since they're obligate carnivores that basically means it was starving. Likely its siblings were too, hence why they ate it after its death.
