Don't delude yourself.
If/when they start trying to confiscate guns, the majority of Americans will simply hide their guns and say something along the lines of "I sold them..." or "I lost them in a boating accident...".
Some tiny fraction will literally have the .gov take them out of their warm dead hands after they start shooting, and the .gov flattens them.
Some other small group will comply and turn in their guns.
Around the same time???
They'll make buying ammo illegal.
They'll make shooting ranges illegal.
On...
and on...
and on...
So where does that leave the majority of gun owning folks?
With a bunch of quasi useless firearms hidden in your basement, or somewhere, that you can't shoot, you can't buy ammo for, etc...
I'm not one of those cowards that constantly talks about losing my guns in a lake. But I do have a prescription for a medical pistol.

Can I get around this because I have/ need a "Support" pistol? Without it I may have anxiety when in public places where people are allowed to poop on the sidewalks and when driving in traffic at speeds above 15 MPH.
