It's been posted before and will be again. It'll be like NY, CT, NJ, CA, etc. You won't have a cop come to your door for you and your guns unless you do something, but you will not legally be allowed to own shit eventually (at least not without significant restrictions). If you comply, you comply. If you don't you'll keep them in your basement with your canned food just in case for some uncertain future. You won't bring them to the range, if you have your own land you'll be damned careful shooting them, etc. Eventually you will get old and pass on, your kids (who you tried to instill with your 2A values) will clean out your basement and turn them in and chalk it up to pops' eccentricities. A select few may keep them in their own basements, but it will do just about as much good. There is no plan to confiscate guns across the board, any outlawing is to break the chain over a generation.

I really thought we had a chance with outreach to get a wider group of new people into it. I tried really fucking hard during the Obama years to get more shooters into it, especially underrepresented demographics, and I did. After the 2016 election that dried up, and guns seem to have re-entrenched as part of the bullshit culture war. If you're worried about Janet Reno kicking down your door, transfer the energy from prepping into outreach and try to change public opinion on some level. There is not going to be some armed uprising by gun owners, and it's a pretty bad idea to focus on that rather than trying to head it off before anybody does anything stupid.

Nah, I think it'd be better to self-quarantine into various online echo chambers, unfriend people on social media platforms, type helplessly into the void, and only speak to the choir. When will we call infringement?
It is my firm prediction that unless we all act now, and I do mean all, even those of us who are passive in support of the 2nd amendment or who may not own or own very few guns; we are staring at de facto prohibition through dodgy legislation, features outlaw, taxation, and direct prohibition of types within the next 5 years.

At this rate, by that time, in most states if not nationwide you will be able to own, if you pass the background check and license the weapon and are not declared ineligible by some otherwise useless new local, state, or federal law: A bolt, pump, or lever action rifle in a traditional non competition or military configuration, pistols with a non-detachable 6 rd or less revolving cylinders, or a pump or break action shotgun with a 5rd max capacity. All semiautomatic pistols, rifles, and shotguns will be law enforcement and military only. Further all +P and Magnum ammunition will be outlawed. All ammunition will be taxed, regulated, and on-hand supply restricted. You will be restricted on the total number of firearms you can own and where and how you can keep them.

Within a decade, special licensing, secure storage, transport, and liability laws will move gun ownership out of the common persons' reach; where the associated expenses potential liability, and bureaucratic hurtles make ownership impractical or impossible for most average law-abiding Americans.

All the while criminals and criminal organizations will become emboldened by disarmed civilians. In the resulting social climate law enforcement, on behest of civil officials under pressure from special interest groups, corporate interests, or greedy self-interest, will begin to actively repress people for exercise of their other constitutional liberties in the name of "public order or safety."

This will not be entirely caused by firearm prohibition, but when coupled with rampant political correctness the tendencies to pander to SJW extremism, sanitize history, and throw open our boarders, this is the near future of our nation. An artificially created climate of fear, high crime, homelessness and lack of accountability where the state will feel itself justified in repressing us “for our own good.”

This will be the America of the 2030s, of course on paper, you will still have the right to bear arms, just not the ability…
