    Default Fa lpk,s legality

    I have ar's in semi.
Anticipating these will be a thing of the past and quite valuable, could one obtain legally fa16 lower parts kits, to store away for a shtf day?no intention to build/construct but to be prepared. ?
Does it dies it make a difference if you already own an ar?
    Tks

    Can you be more specific?

You can buy a legally registered lower/sear or whatever for several thousand dollars plus a tax stamp for each one.

I'm confused about the SHTF part? Like if there is an emergency where you need to waste ammo as far as you can?

Saving it to use when SHTF is intent.

Agreed. The OP sounds like intent to me...

Actual answer - nothing illegal about owning the parts, so long as they're not installed in your semi rifle.

More complicated answer - no problem, even if installed, so long as the resulting combination doesn't operate automatically.

ATF has specifically addressed this issue and stated that simply owning the parts is not illegal.

Also, storing them away for SHTF is silly, unless you also have the machine tools and the know-how to modify a semi-auto receiver in order to install the factory auto sear. A complete set of full auto parts in a semi receiver results in three selector positions - safe, fire and single-shot (due to hammer follow).

    This.

Standard semi-auto lowers are built to, with a few exceptions, prevent the use of the appropriate equipment for select fire or full auto.

Also, FA is fun, but a waste of ammo. Not what you want in a true shtf scenario.

Intent to break a law that has no enforceability in the hypothetical future?

If I intend to shoot looters in the same, can I be charged with murder now?
