Castle Rock's streets were absolutely shitty today.

Talk about a half-ass plowing. Wilcox had a massive ridge of snow and ice (2 feet high)right down the middle of it, and the rest of the street was lumpy, frozen wet ice. I'm amazed there weren't accidents.
I crept along with the rest of the crowd at 15 mph, watching people slide all over that street. What the HELL.

On Wednesday I drove the Peak-to-Peak highway when snow plows were working everywhere. I watched a fellow clearing his long drive with a tractor. He had to be miserable in the blizzard wind and snow.

Most folks in the mountains use a pickup or similar with a plow. I've had 6 or 7 plow rigs over the years including an International Scout II like the one below. Four wheel chains turn them into a tank in deep powder and chains are often necessary in heavy wet spring snows. It sure is nice to have a good heater and defroster.

I plowed commercially for years and found the little Toyotas are fast and reliable rigs for small to medium size lots and driveways. My '85 SR5 is my second one and has plowed for 15 years. If I ever got another dedicated rig I'd seriously look at an articulating skid loader with a cab and 6' or 7' snow thrower on the front.

This shot was on 3' of spring (heavy) show. A 1/4 mile drive. Snow was above the window. 2nd gear low was at idle with not problem.

I took a photo of a car stuck behind a 4' high wall of plow on the side of the road today, then realized that everyone has probably seen that 20 different times during this storm and the picture is nothing special.

All the roads had ice stuck to the pavement. Even on e-470 Thursday when I drove up to DIA to pick up my wife.

Parker road was like a pothole on steroids obstacle course.

It's eleven minutes past when the snow is predicted to start falling. Any weather going on around the state yet?
