Actually, I was hoping to see an answer.
I had a boat with 12 year old fuel and called all the marine service folks in town.
No one would empty the tank and dispose of the fuel.
I ended up pouring a lot of STA-BIL into the tank and running around the lake until it was down to about 10% of the tank.
Smoke, uh-huh! Probably not too good for the 2-stroke engine.

I just pour stale fuel into the oil drain barrels here at the shop. No issues with the oil recycler, as long as there is no chlorinated hydrocarbons.

That's what I did. We added it to some used motor oil and a local auto parts store took it. It helped there wasn't as much in the tank as I'd estimated.

Tim, which local parts store took it (oil) and was there a charge involved?

holy feck. I'm surprised anything ran on 12yo unleaded. Maybe it was just 90% stabil by that point?

I dropped off a couple jugs of used oil at Oreillys a few months ago for free.

Was down to about 60 gals in a 120 gal tank, so I put in another 40 gals, lots of STA-BIL, and ran it out.
Fresh gas after leaving about 12-15 gals in the tank, up to about 100 gals, and the engine ran fine.
Lucked out there, but would have preferred draining the old gas and starting over.
