Dave Sanders was a hero at Columbine, no doubt. On one hand I really like that they are focusing on a hero in a "mass shooting" and not the monster. This is a story that needs to be told, who knows how many lives Sanders saved that day?

OTOH, there is another permanent reminder of Columbine for all who drive by on a public highway and a reminder we didn't need for 20 years until now.

I have no problem remembering and memorializing great Americans, and Sanders certainly seems to be one from everything I've read! But it seems like there is an effort to make sure the cloud of Columbine hangs over this state.

Indeed! Which is why I like Sanders' story being told. I guess I just can't help but see an ulterior motive in this after 20 years and the media anniversary celebration. Am I wrong?

Glass – who detailed the possible plan in an open letter to the Jeffco Public Schools community, titled "A New Columbine?" – told Denver7 that the school is "constantly under pressure" from people stopping by the campus, either out of innocent fascination or attempts to enter the building illegally.

"We have hundreds of people who try to enter the building or walk onto the grounds or slow-roll by it," Glass said. "We even have tour buses of people that stop outside Columbine High School. It's just a constant threat to the kids that are there."

After the mass murder I thought the school should carry on in order to disempower anyone else from thinking they had the power to close down schools. Minimize the damage. Kids needed to accept and move on as well. Columbine had just been renovated in the late 90s. I had been there several times before/after the renno.

But now... This is a problem. Consider each one of those "visitors" in light of the media hype and copycats.

Columbine is like a sacred site for the anti-gun groups and media (who are not necessarily exclusive groups in 2019) and it's telling that the school would remain open for 20 years but now possibly have to close because of the intense focus on school shootings.

The lib-tards/media won't let anyone move forward, so I get where they're coming from.

I've heard of similar strategies with the excuse being "it's for the children". If something like this would have happened when I was young, they would have spackled over the bullet holes in the wall and people would move on. I don't agree with destroying a building for that reason.

With Columbine, the lib-tards simply can't let it go, 'cuz the agenda. I don't even think you could name the new school "Columbine High School".
