Wow, 27 years....! Enjoy the rest and relaxation, just keep the salt and pepper shakers filled and take a nap whenever you F-ng feel like it!

I’ll have to work for at least a decade longer in order to retire, and I’m planning to do so “early”.
How fast was the first 10 years of retirement compared to working?

In 2010 i was able to retire early. Being retired is the best job i ever had. I excel at doing nothing.
Congratulations. I enjoy seeing you hanging out at Ark every time I go in there.
When I pay off my house, I plan on standing on a street corner with a sign that says "I worked really hard and paid off my house!"
On the back, where only I can read, it will say, "And the market made it double in value at the same time."
"There are no finger prints under water."
I bailed 6 years ago after 24 years.
I work more now than I ever did and love it even more.

Congratulations! I joined the KMA club just a few months ago. I'm hoping I find something to do soon before I go out of my mind with boredom.
Be safe.
Congrats!
At 51 . . . I think about this a lot more. Have 2 kids to get through college. Son starts at DU this fall and daughter will probably be at CSU starting the year after. Need to go at the rat race hard for probably another 5 years and then hope to start scaling back. Wife is probably going back to work soon to try to really knock out the tuition and to pad the retirement savings during that stretch. We'll see how it goes. House had been paid off for a few years and no other debt--until college starts. We have around 3/4 of what we'll need for tuition and housing squirreled away already, but we want to bank as much as possible in the college years just in case.
Good for you, SAnd! Glad you're enjoying yourself.
I've been kinda half-ass retired, on and off, for several years now. I work, but it's an easy job and keeps me in gun, tractor, truck and Harley money. And, like Irving, we're in the express lane for paying off the house. So, it won't be early retirement, but it won't be too much longer, either.

I've really tapered off on the accelerated house payments this year and last, which is unfortunate because I've not been doing anything productive with the extra money.![]()
