I remember when I moved here people would give me a little shit for being from Texas. I bet in retrospect they should have encouraged me to bring more friends and family with me. I?m guessing if the amount of people moving here from Texas was as great as the number of people flooding in from California the political climate over the last twenty years would be totally different.

The problem is that most of the people moving here from Texas lately are coming from Travis County so not really any better than Californians.

Born in Texas and lived there for the first 28 years of my life. Texas is pretty low on my list of states I?d like to live in. Unless you?re willing to live in one of the big cities the rest of the state is still living in the dark ages. The climate doesn?t suit me for the majority of the state as well.

Say what you want about Texans but they do value their freedoms and liberties and are pretty intolerant of those that would try and infringe on their rights.

I've been told Colorado was full of Texans in the 80's until the oil bust and they all mostly left.

When I came here in 92 the commercial vacancy rate was insanely high.

Yeah, in Austin proper, for sure, but I'll be getting a house outside of the city itself, so I'll still be in a more conservative area. I'm tired of Denver and Boulder having say over the whole state.

Let's hope TX won't go the way of CO in a few years, it's the national trend to have major urban areas control the entire state, and I'm afraid TX is a hot spot of that happening.

You might make the case that they're more socially conservative. But politically and economically most of them are big government socialists that will vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.
