I'd be fine with Europe running drones and monitoring shipping around Iran, dealing with any escalations, and dropping bodies. The situation is multiples more important for them (Russia) than the US.

Washington (AFP) - President Donald Trump on Monday told other countries to protect their own Gulf oil shipments, declaring that the United States has only limited strategic interest in the "dangerous" region.

In a pair of tweets, Trump said US aims regarding Iran boil down to "No Nuclear Weapons and No Further Sponsoring of Terror."

As for Iran's threats to shut sea lanes used to transport a large portion of the world's oil exports through the Persian Gulf, Washington is not concerned, Trump said.

I think that would be a Grammy award winning prank. Roofie a liberal friend, and have special effects artists come over and transform them into trump while they are out. Then have other friends dress up as secret service agents and wait patiently.

The US is now a net exporter of energy, so the Straight of Hormuz doesn't mean much to us or our oil prices. Something like 91% of China's oil and a large chunk of Japan's oil comes from the region. Why aren't they defending their own shipping? It's not our grass to cut.
