Default Nothing like coming home to a water leak

Got home and went to drop my laptop off in the basement.

    Hmm the wall looks different.

Found an old copper pipe leaking at the joint. Stopped it by shutting off the water and lowering the water table. Yay for a project that we didn't plan on.

Guess I have to sell my SIG

Does the carpet end at the doorway? I like seeing people tackling stuff on their own. Good luck.

It's one piece of carpet for the entire basement which needed to be replaced eventually. I guess that project is coming ahead of schedule.

I will have a handyman doing the drywall. He ran maintenance at our old apartment complex and does great work at a good price.

Oof. That stinks. At least you have good help.

Sounds like a great reason for polished concrete floors

Just google decorative polished concrete. Some neat potential. No idea if it’s durable or has a comparable expense with other hard flooring options, but it looks neat.

I looked into polished concrete at our house, but I had a nice even layer of asbestos tile glue over all my concrete that made that option a no-go.
