Default CSU inclusion guide draft labelled "America/American" as offensive terms

    https://www.9news.com/article/news/l...3-e5515f07e74f

Short version, a draft version of an "inclusion guide" from staff at CSU got "leaked," includes the terms "America/American" as offensive, suggesting instead "U.S. citizen; person from the U.S." Then, Tony Frank tries to say "It was a draft, it was removed from the final version, etc." But of course, to me, the fact that it was there at all to begin with is offensive.

I can't remember where I heard it, maybe a TED Talkradio hour podcast or something, talking about how at one company they decided that the term "Flip Chart" (board used during meetings/presentations) was banned because they thought it could be considered racist to Filipinos.

The Internet needs an image of a Flip Wilson themed flip chart.

This does not bode well for Spic and Span cleaning brand, white boards, black boards, fire retardant, etc.

Pretty sure there is a Mexican restaurant named Spic and Span somewhere in Aurora. I used to see it on Google maps all the time when I worked for AAA roadside and had to confirm where people who were calling in for help were located.

It has since been picked up by conservative media websites.
    CONSERVATIVES POUNCE!!!

The only reason they "report" this is to front-run and spin so they can protect Good Comrades.

If we had journalists, they would be ashamed that "conservative media websites" are out scooping them.

"America/American" was not labeled as offensive, they were labeled as possibly confusing. "America/American" to some people might not mean a US citizen, it could mean someone from South America.

I think they're right, and the policy of referring to Americans is awful.

The proper terminology should be American-American.
