John covered it well. There is a sole exception: make an assessment of what type of snake, your ability to call, and how long you may have vs. the value of your limb. If you're out in the wilderness alone with a dead cell, losing your leg (high probability if you do this) is superior to dying. Or if struck by some "5 minutes until death" super species- pet or in Australia...Promptly apply turniquet ASAP. Regular Rattlers, you probably are ok for hours. If it'll be a half day or more to get out, consider tying off old hammy.

I've never been bitten, but from what I know as a guy who does almost everything recreational outdoors, this is the best advice. And CALMLY and SLOWLY should be emphasized to keep heart rate down. But again that's just my knowledge from reading stuff.

This is why having a strong/healthy (read, being in shape) heart, can go a long way in anything from a snake bite, to a gunshot wound, but you also have to do your part and remain calm (probably easier said than done lol).

We had a tanker that had that transformation in about a week after getting the very safe anthrax series. So safe it ruined his life.

I?d like to think really healthy people will succumb to a snake bite faster than the average joe. That healthy heart will pump that venom through your body faster. Lol.

Good stuff. That Reddit post breaks it down well. Mitigation is your best defense i.e. don't get bit.

Getting ready to do a presentation at the Colorado Hospital Association next week on data, evidence and such for response to active shooters. Looking at the types of injuries civilians sustain. I have become even more of a data whore. Should be fun to rattle some heads.

I'd be interested in seeing your presentation and/or slide deck.

If there's nothing wrong with having to show an ID to buy a gun, there's nothing wrong with having to show an ID to vote.

For legal reasons, that's a joke.
