I think there are reasons that FNH is the contractor and Colt isn't. It's my opinion that Colt rode the Govt. gravy train too long and didn't keep up.

Apparently Colt still has some pretty substantial government contracts...$88M worth as of last Nov I think.
My experience with their 1911s goes back further than it does with their rifles. Never a single problem...though I almost always used aftermarket mags. I don't recall my duty gun ever having a failure of any type.
