    Default Conferences suck.

So I went to Glacier NP prior to a conference in Kalispell. Spent a week in the outdoors, some in the rain, tenting with temp falling to the 40s nightly. Not a sniffle.

Then go to the conference for 3 days. Close quarters will 180+ from across the country. Last day, my throat starts to hurt. That night got worse. Drove home 15hrs miserable. Yesterday, slept all day between coughing fits. Today, every muscle is soar. Temps 99-101.

I hope this breaks before Monday. Have 4 hr flight to DC before a jump to Roanoke.

I am sure it's from the conference attendees because I could hear people coughing, and I was rarely near another soul while hiking and camping.

    Ehem

Separately, I believe petri dish is in fact interchangeable with conference.

The GF and I refer to the kid's play area in malls as the petri dish.

Yes, Glacier was cool. They started shutting down facilities while I was there. Road closes in October.

I'll be at one in early Oct, immediately before 1st rifle.

Sands convention center, Venetian/Palazzo. Probably 4K people at the conference alone.

    My sympathies.

My routine for conferences is to begin taking Zicam the day before (the nasal swabs, not the tablet) and to carry the antibacterial alcohol gel with me- and use it liberally.

That's not to say that I won't get sick, because Conference Crud is nefarious- but the Zicam will shorten the time and intensity of whatever crap I catch.

Yea, I travel so have a routine. Doesn't always stave off the crud.

Hand cleaner is good for lots of things, and I use it frequently, but for some bugs it just spreads them around. As I'm sure most know, copious hand washing with soap and water is best.

Tip: The only thing that kills the Norovirus (stomach flu) is chlorine bleach. Carry Chlorine wipes and use them during flu bug season. The one time in my life I cancelled a business trip last minute was Norovirus.

Lol. Funny story today. Slept most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Barely slept last night and had to catch the 0600 flight to DC. I got to the airport around 0330 since I couldn't fall asleep. Tried sleeping at the gate, never noticed how noisy that place is, even with no one else around. Got a coke from McDonalds around 0430 to settle my stomach, which usually works. I kept having the dont trust a fart feeling and hit the toilet a few times to just fart. Started feeling less comfortable. I got to the front and just before I scanned by boarding pass, a giant rumble/churn in the stomach. Told the gate checker I was going to customer service at the gate. By that time I broke out into a giant sweat, explained I was sick the past few days, and the United customer service booked me on the Tuesday flight at no charge. My seat was left unfilled. Tuesdays flight is half empty.

Nothing but gas all day, but I sure as hell didnt want to be trapped on a plane for 4 hours not knowing if I could trust a fart.
