    I haven't needed this for any of the F 150s I've owned and I registered mine 2 weeks ago. Maybe it's new. Wouldn't surprise me....just another way to squeeze a few more dollars outta ya.

    Apparently this has to do with the out-of-state title not having a weight on it. She looked and looked and said usually the title has a weight listed, but this one didn't.

    Just a guess, but wouldn't the out of state VIN verification you should probably have had done by your local PD record the weights from the door sticker?

    It all seems really odd to me for a non-commercial vehicle.


    ETA: I just looked at my Dodge 2500 truck title and it only lists a 2 digit code (71) for "CWT/CAP/SIZE" but this is a title from 2004.

    ^^^this. Some states paper work does not require weight, Colorado does.
