Default Improving your Sport Impact ear protection

Basically add some extra foam inside to fill in the empty space, and replace the ear cups with something that seals, conforms and blocks sound better.

They suggest ones from NoiseFighters, but I've been using these Valhall Gear gel cups from Amazon:

Will check those things out. All I do is wear a pair of Sonic Defender plugs in addition to the muffs and that works great indoors.

I replaced the foams on my impacts with gels from KaiserShooter. I typically wear foam plugs in addition, just because...

I wear foam plugs every day at work, so it's second nature

Good advice, thanks. I have several sets of HL and the seal on ear cups are a major complaint of mine.

Personal observation. Eye pro is a major contributor to ear pro. I switched my earpro to the tipe that has a thin wire hook for the ear part. I found the plastic eyepro had thick plastic that always caused sealing issues.

Also +1 to foam in addition to muffs.

When I was young and invincible I didn't use any hearing protection and I'm paying for it now. Shooting trap every weekend and lots of range trips definitely took a big toll on my ears. I use plugs and muffs now or my ears are ringing and hurt if I dont use bolth. I have been meaning to get gel cups for the muffs I use, just sent KaiserShooter an email to get a few sets. Thank you OP for posting this.

Never could get my HL to seal, so I ended up buying an MSA Sordin w/ the gel ear cups. So much nicer.

Dont take shortcuts. Between loud Harleys, construction, and hunting, my ears ring all the time. I need hearing aids now too. I wear 3M classic plugs along with electronic ear muffs now when I shoot to save what hearing I have left.

This. The MSA Sordins w/ gel earcups were a combined family gift one Christmas. Expensive, but they're worth it.
