It sure is a fun round to shoot. Though it doesn't get shot much as I would rather shoot my 556 more for the same cost.

Unless you want to hunt with the round, I wouldn't bother looking at the 458. Its expensive to buy factory ammo, even reloading the bullet alone is about the same cost as a factory 556 round. If you are going to shoot it in any large quantity you really need to load your own.
Cool. I was looking to make stupid AR on a ghost lower. Sbr pistol & binary trigger with folding stock
I decided to use an Aero M4E1 YEET Cannon lower w mine.![]()

Not a dig against you, but I'm hard pressed to recommend anything "budget" when it comes to anything big bore. Getting them built correctly takes different knowledge than a 556 and I've seen silly things come from budget big bore builds before; both online and in person.
Here's a 458 BCA barrel that came into my local shop for example. They've taken too much material off of the bottom lug and then they didn't even bother to de-burr it so it was gouging brass.

No offense taken, just posting something I ran across. The only big bore I have had was an Alexander arms .50 Beowulf, which functioned great. I got rid of it because it didn't fit in with my needs. Now I'm in the market for a hunting caliber AR. My 6.5G is in the shop getting a make over because of poor workmanship. I understand the issues of not going tier 1.
