Error, error.
Bastards back charged me from October to March when I got the plates. Originally the plates would have been $275 but they were now $650.
I asked what was going to happen when I finally plate my 70 Nova that has been parked in my garage for 10 years.
"Oh, you will ONLY be charged for the previous years "road use" fees."
"But it didnt "use the road" the previous years......."
Blank look.

Makes buying a lot in WY and registering all of my vehicles there pretty damn attractive.
Had a new, as in never titled trailer we used for storage. Called dmv for temp plates, said it's been in storage for X years. They said well there's original tax & plates PLUS number of years not registered. Like you it was high, only closer to $1k.

Went back to place we purchased trailer, was explaining to guy we were moving OOS and..... He says. Let me guess you'd like a temp tag? Sure, ok here ya go. Tossed him a $50 and said buy lunch.

Keep ins coverage on them and use our address. Trailers are a 1x fee with a PERMANENT tag. Cost $140 forever tag that was almost 10x less than what CO said i would have to pay for a temp tag.
