It's nice to want to help. Operating without insurance is pretty (i.e. extremely) common among small business owners. The whole angle of "I was just about to get insurance!" isn't landing with me. I guess I'll get robbed/burgled pretty soon since I haven't rushed out to help this guy (also I have no money right now). I wish him the best. This is a tough lesson to learn and a hard pill to swallow. Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing that ruins people.

Same same. Can't donate to charity cases if it'll risk you becoming a charity case. Agree on the insurance thing. Back when I was building decks we never carried it, but then again I wasn't driving around with 100k in stuff. It sucks bad, but if he's alive, and his families alive and healthy, it's not the EOTWAWKI.
