First Time For Everything

Many times I've seen people displaying certain flags or signs or whatever that favor a conservative side of things be told to remove the "offending" item. I've never seen this go the other way. Pet liberal causes seem to be able to display whatever they like without regard to whether or not it offends someone.

Not last week in Idaho.

An LGBTQ group was told to leave the WalMart in Moscow, ID over complaints by customers about the rainbow flag they had on display at their fundraising table near the store entrance. It's about time the shoe was on the other foot. Having said that, it's a shame so many people have to be offended by such trivial things, on both sides. It would be far better if everyone just recognized that people have different opinions and not get so butthurt about minor things.

You might think differently if you held certain strong religious beliefs. There's any number of reasons someone might be offended by that flag and what it represents.

To me, that's not the issue. Be offended all you want. But understand it's just another point of view being offered. The problem is people just can't live and let live. Too many people seem to think they have a right to not be offended.

A lot of things offend me. But it's pretty rare I get offended to the point I take some sort of action other than offering my opposing point of view.

Kind of off topic but related to Irving's link to the "offensive" ad...

I don't watch much TV, especially network TV, at all. But on those rare occasions when I do I've noticed that's it's pretty rare these days to see a commercial depicting a straight, white couple or regular white family with children. It seems almost every commercial I see with a family these days depicts some variety of mixed race couple/kids. Or maybe the few I do see just stand out since I so rarely see TV commercials.

Nothing wrong with it. Just seems like everyone wants to overboard with the political correctness these days.

That's the new status quo. Same with people in printed advertisements and on the cover of text books. It gets tiresome when you can tell they are trying too hard for sure. I have a mixed family, but can't even think of a time when I've taken note of another mixed family, because that's so low on the list of things I care about I came be bothered to notice. I just can't imagine what it must be like to be the type of person to get offended if a made up family is all the same race (especially white). There are plenty of people out there though.

Bingo. Folks need to grow a set and grow the F up. Don't like something? Ignore it. These people want your attention. Ignoring them pisses them off. You win.

Imagine if everyone just ignored Colin Kapppernickity or whatever the hell his name is. He would have faded away like the fart in the wind that he is.
