TBH, if you don't want to be selected for a jury, all you need to do in the vast majority of sides is come across as intelligent, independent, and unbiased. (Especially through e.g. job information and the initial questions) Usually, that's exactly the kind of juror neither side wants.

Or be honest when asked a question. They asked my spouse . How do you feel about pedophiles?

She said They should hang the fuckers. Unless I got to shoot them, first. ... Dismissed.

I've been wanting to be on a jury (preferably for an interesting trial) for 20+ years, but always get the "no need to show up" message when I call the day before. My wife's been on 2 juries for trials and just got her citizenship 9 years ago. She was even summoned once for jury duty before she was a citizen. LOL @ government competency.

I have been called once for JD in Jeffco about 15 years ago. I went dressed in my finest grunge skater look (faded jeans, flip flops, hoodie, hemp necklace, beenie cap, goatee). Even with disclosing I was a Veteran and an engineer, I was selected and ended up being the foreman. Probably on a "list" now, because after the not guilty verdict, we called both the DA and the Public Defender into the jury room and read them the riot act on the complete incompetence both sides demonstrated. The judge was pleased.

I went about 30 years with getting the "no need to show" result. Earlier this year (right in the middle of a huge work project) I got called and had to show up. Got called up in the first round of selections and was sat in the first set of people in the box. Answered openly and honestly to the questions . . . which I was pretty sure the defense wasn't going to like. But ended up on the jury. Ended up taking two days in total.

I suppose it was "interesting" to participate and if I ever found myself on trial, I'd want jurors with half a brain determining my fate. The deliberations were like any group discussion, with some people being bleeding hearts or being interested in hearing themselves talk about anything related or unrelated and some being more analytical and down to business. We had a few people who seemed to enjoy the fact that they were off work and they wanted to go off in all sorts of directions of discussion. Had to be corralled by those of us who wanted to focus more on the facts and not be there all week--the foreman wasn't very decisive in the end. I probably drove most of the discussion and trying to get the jury on track and keep them there when it drifted or stalled. Ended up finding the guy guilty on DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia. And it ended up that the guy had a track record for it.

But in the end, it won't break my heart if I get another long stretch of not having to report or being dismissed.

I've been called several times over the years and served 3 times. I found out that at 72 I could request being dismissed from being called anymore. I just couldn't sit there for so long or wait for break periods anymore.`

I postponed my last summons due to scheduled/booked work travel.

My makeup date is in the middle of the work week first full week of Jan. Probably when I'll be needed in FL for an upcoming work project. Fuck. I should have pushed it out further but thought it better to just get it over with.
