Default Wow! Remington shuttering Bushmaster, DPMS & TAPCO brands ????

Some old school names in the Firearm business and sounds like Remington may be closing the brands down.

Neither of the 3's websites go to their perspective branded sites anymore and goes straight to Remington's site with manual and warranty info.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles. --Jeff Cooper"

That's a shame. The market is over saturated, and competition is fierce, so it makes sense.

They swallowed up a bunch of companies, and reduced their quality in the name of profits. I wonder which companies could be next?

Bushmaster was a tainted brand with a public image associated with Sandy Hook. Right or wrong, it makes sense to close that shop. DPMS was pretty crap quality for as long as I can remember, and Tapco is Tapco. I feel like they lost their market share to companies like CAA and ATI years ago. I can't remember the last time I saw a Tapco product that wasn't a pot metal AR wrench or an SKS stock.

    DPMS, Bushy and Tapco?
    There go the gun shows.

Ridge is spot on with the Bushy assessment, the best out for Remmy is to fold it.

If it was not bushmaster,we might have stuck with crappy colt ar15 a2/a3 style ar even now.
From that , market got flooded with ar now and we can get a cheap ar for under 400 now from place like psa.

I remember I tried to buy a crappy old colt ar15 a2 or ar15 on year 1995. Local gun store wanted 1200 for it. I just spent 400 more and got a hk91.

Remember rent was approx 350-450 1bedroom 800sqft back then in many denver and aurora area.
It would have taken 300% of rent $ to get ar.
Now it will take 30%* rent $ to get an ar.

When I moved up here in 2006, I rented a 2bdrm 1ba decent sized (albeit older) duplex apartment for $675 a month, in University Hills, I can't even imagine what that same spot is going for now.

I remember a lot of AK guys liking the Tapco triggers.

    NOT TAPCO!!

NOW where will I buy cheap Chinese crap for my SKS?????

OK, Full disclosure: Yes, I do own an SKS. Almost 20 years ago I was a broke, barely-employed law student living in Laramie, WY and to pass the time during those long, cold winters I had fun "bubba-ing" up my SKS. Painted stock, experimented with different magazines, even replaced the rear V notch site with a non-adjustable aperture site. I spent some of my (little) money buying Tapco stuff from the likes of Gunbroker, Cabelas, Sportsman's Guide and (I think) CTD (Though I honestly can't remember if I was buying from CTD that early. Does anyone know if CTD was around circa 2000 - 2002?)

One of the benefits to living in Laramie was that they had a very nice shooting range just a few miles North of town and it only cost $50/year to join. So, since ammo was cheap, shooting was one of the few things I could afford to do in Laramie.

I actually still have the SKS. It has a surprisingly good trigger, better than a lot of factory-made US rifles. I don't think I've shot it in 3 or 4 years but I still have it.

I just remember TAPCO as being the go-to for "cheap SKS stuff" back when the AW ban kept AR prices too high for most poor people like I was back then.

So who else has a "Cheap SKS" story? C'mon, fess up, I know lot of you do!
