    Default Carry at K-12 functions NOT on school property?

    Looking at the law, it seems such carry would be good to go.

    Your thoughts?

    You're either concerned about your safety enough to break the law, or you aren't.

    I?m too lazy to research it but is it just ?school property? that is strictly forbidden or does it mention anything about other school related functions?

    Personally, concealed should be concealed so even if you are carrying somewhere you aren?t supposed to it?s highly likely nobody will ever know. Should things go south in a bad way and you were forced to use your firearm then that tells me that getting your pee-pee slapped for carrying where you weren?t supposed to should be a problem you are lucky to have to deal with. The alternative being obeying the rules and finding yourself dead.

    (3) A permit issued pursuant to this part 2 does not authorize a person to carry a concealed handgun onto the real property, or into any improvements erected thereon, of a public elementary, middle, junior high, or high school;
    No "function" terms that I can see. Probably not legally possible anyway. Concealed carry banned for everybody at the park just because a field trip is having lunch there? Not practical.

    But does the venue for this function have metal detectors or do they wand people and search bags at the entrance ?
    You may want to find that out as well.

    I believe on school grounds, it must be secured in the vehicle. The firearm cannot leave your vehicle.
