Default Arapahoe County Stops Concealed Carry Permits

    https://www.arapahoegov.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1539

The sheriff?s office is suspending the concealed handgun permit process and fingerprinting conducted at its headquarters at 13101 E. Broncos Parkway in Centennial from now through March 27. This is for new, renewed or retired permits. No new applications will be accepted during this two-week period. After the initial two week suspension, the sheriff will re-evaluate whether to begin reissuing permits and fingerprinting or extend the suspension period.

Of course, the thought of somebody actually needing to get their permit renewed is not a consideration.

Probably because it's not a need.

Really? That's interesting- Many of us would disagree.

I understand the concept of limiting person-to-person contact is a goal right now, so why not implement a non face-to-face plan for renewals?

You already have the person's prints, picture and can run an updated background check.

I get that new permits could be problematic.

It's only for two weeks. The amount of people whose renewal date falls within that two week period will be statistically insignificant; and if I've learned anything from posting on here for a decade, it's that things that are statistically insignificant do not matter and nothing at all should be done to change whatever the situation is. It could also be argued that, like everything else in the world, you knew your renewal was coming and had a several week window to get renewed. That anyone wants to do it NOW, is no one's problem but the person renewing.

I realize Eddie was just posting for info. I just wanted to get in before the thread goes full retard with chest pounding about rights.

If you renew in Arapahoe County before your due date, you lose whatever in advance that you renew. ( If you renew 3 - 4 weeks before your expiration date, you lose that 3 - 4 weeks. Your new renewal date will be 5 years from the date of renewal not 5 years from the date of expiration of the previous CCP.)
And if your CCP goes past the renewal date during that suspension of issuing renewals, you are SOL and have to go through the entire CCP application again.

Now that is EFFed up ! That you will have to go through the entire process again due to no fault of your own.

I agree that if it's a two-week suspension while they figure out a plan moving forward thats fine. I also agree that given the current climate you should have renewed the day your window opened. I don't agree that it's chest thumping to ensure what many of us feel is pretty fundamental right is not marginalized by the Sheriff office when workarounds exist.

It's really quite simple to extend the dates and if they would just publish that, perhaps also mailing out or issuing an official statement on letterhead to all permit holders, people wouldn't be getting all twisted up over it. Why can't a highly trained elected official or the bureaucrats think of these things?
    My Feedback

Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."
