I’m guessing the denials are increasing as buyers with “shady” backgrounds attempt to purchase legally!

I have often wondered if LEO gets a notification of a perp (not some Joe with an unpaid parking ticket) tries to buy a gun gets denied, if it’s a felony to falsify/lie on the BGC form is action taken?

the only time we saw an LE respond to a bad 4473 bgc was when the guy had outstanding warrants. The cbi person asked if we could keep him there by saying the bgc was taking time, while LE was in transit.

Other than that, any denial was told to contact cbi as they did tell us why the buyer was denied.

Based on my experience, they do call the police, at least sometimes. About four years ago, I was at Rapid Fire Bunker waiting for my CBI check, and two Littleton officers came in, walked right up to some guy like they knew him, and told him they need to speak with him outside. As I was leaving the store about fifteen minutes later, I saw that the guy was handcuffed.

I'm sure it wasn't about parking tickets, as I had a few unpaid ones myself, and I was approved to proceed with the transfer.

I witnessed roughly the same thing at Ark Tactical a few years ago. While a guy was waiting on his BGC, Noah took a call in the back room. A few minutes later, a couple of Lakewood PD showed up and arrested the guy for "fishing without a license" ticket based warrants. Once that was determined, everybody was pretty chill and the officers said the guy could come back later that day for his gun once he was processed and released from the PD. Noah said the call was from CBI to keep the guy waiting so the PD could come. His pucker factor was high for a bit because they would not tell him any info on the warrant.

I don't recall. It wasn't anything that was really notable.

If those unpaid parking tickets result in a warrant then CBI will be more than happy to notify local PD you are waiting for them to come to gun shop and arrest you.

As was mentioned in another post can go back and pick up gun later after pay bond and promise not to ignore the judge again.
