I don't know anything of their conviction rate. I do know that the US Attorney's threshold for prosecution is generally pretty high. A few years ago, I investigated a tax fraud case where the feds were out over a million and the state was out around $80K and I ended up charging in the state as the AUSA wasn't interested.
