Default If You Find Yourself Homeschooling Due to COVID-19, Read This!

    Hey all,

This past week has been a brand new experience for the HoneyBadger family with school closed for our 2 kiddos (Kindergarten and 2nd Grade). We've found that having a daily schedule really helps, but to have effective "school time," you must have a plan!

For those of you who find yourselves doing some form of homeschooling now, I know it can be really intimidating, but there are a TON of resources out there to help!

    A few examples:
Huge number of math worksheets for K-8th grade: https://www.commoncoresheets.com/Sor...hp?Sorted=1oa2

NatGeo has a bunch of educational videos for kids here: https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/...azing-animals/

Tour 12 famous museums virtually: https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tra...lVvHEsptuKkj1c

Adventure Learning is giving out 2 months free (normally $15/mo) with code "LEARN60". Targeted for Preschool-8th grade: https://app.adventure2learning.com/a...r?plan=Monthly

Arizona State University's Virtual Field Trips are a really neat resource for all ages but geared toward middle & high school: https://vft.asu.edu/

A series of complete lesson plans with videos about science topics for K-5th grade. Includes guided lessons online and in-home activities sorted by age and topic: https://mysteryscience.com/school-closure-planning

And finally... The motherload: This is a compiled list of hundreds of teaching resources for all topics, all ages, and in multiple languages: http://www.amazingeducationalresources.com/

The COAR-15 community has always been rooted in helping others. Throughout interesting and difficult times like these are when we can really show the rest of the world the character of our community.
If you have other really helpful tips for homeschooling because you're more experienced than me (this is literally anyone who has ever homeschooled... hahaha), PLEASE share with the group!

    Stay safe out there!

    Good information. Thanks for sharing.

I'm past the point of having to deal with children these days but it's good to see people are still taking the time to educate their children during this weird time.

    Thank you for this!
There's a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can't get away.

ABCMouse.com is free as well. I dont remember the code now though. We have a lot of pre-k k and 1-2 grade workbooks that we have been working on with our boys, ages 6,4 and 3. They are allowed on the computer for about an hour and then we get them off.

I have been having them help with feeding animals. They love the pigs, cow and horse. They love catching the poor duck.

This morning after school work, we plated 72 seeds. We went outside for about an hour, but it started sprinkling, so back in the house. Its rough being "quarantined" to 37 acres.

Check out khan academy. It is a great resource for home schoolers.
