I was suppose to fix a small bumper crack on my wife's car. I already applied bondo 2 days ago. I needed to sand it down and apply touch up paint, but need to be postponed. She has no day off for a while.

Serviced and sharpened a chain saw, cut down a dead spruce and bucked it up, finished cutting a stack of apple wood and gathered kindling. Stacked and stocked wood for the log splitter and to get it all covered before the snow over the next few days. It's snowing heavily now.

Actually been going in to work for the past three days. Never would have thought going in to work would be fun but it?s definitely nice to get out of the house.

This may have been the most expensive cake I've ever made. I already referred to the underlying chocolate cake as my '$30 Cake', because of the amount of reasonably good quality chocolate that got poured into the recipe. Having never worked with fondant before, I didn't think to buy one big box of the white kind and then dye the other two colors. Instead, I bought three $20 boxes, one in each color, from Michaels. I probably could have ordered everything I needed from Amazon for $20 had I thought ahead. Anyways, my son was happy, which is all that really mattered.

Since the Dunkin Donuts closed down and Mr. Yo's is closed for Covid, donut options are somewhat limited in town these days. Figured I'd try my hand at frying my own. The dough was a sticky mess, and it puffed up considerably in the fryer, so much so that the first couple came out looking more like chocolate rocks. Similarly, the donut holes we rolled ended up being a lot bigger than we expected after frying. But we definitely got better as we went along. Cut the recommended frying time in half. They came out a little closer to cake-brownie than pure cake, and I thought they could have been a little sweeter. But the outer skin wasn't too crisp and they cooked all the way through, and my family ate them all.

Last night, since I am out of the Bisquick I use normally just for this specific thing, I made a more traditional double-crust chicken pot pie. Very happy with the whole thing. Put the chicken breasts in the pressure cooker to do their thing unattended for about 30 minutes all in. In that time, I made the pie crusts, did the veg prep, and prepared a bechamel base, which I hydrated using the steamed chicken water from the pressure cooker. Fork-shredded the chicken, added a little bit of stock, and put it in the oven for another 30 minutes. Tasted great. Even better for lunch this afternoon.

I've spun that whirlypop around more than my ex. and believe me she was an acrobat. Among other things.
We just got the whirlypop pop my wife ordered. We will be trying it out tomorrow. I'm pretty excited.

Crazy busy pushing to get some late projects pushed through to completion, or at least trigger some progress payments. My brain is mush after 10-12 hours coding, so I make dinner and veg on some streaming before it's off to bed and up early to keep at it. It's all wfh for us now, though, unless we have to go in to physically work with the equipment in the lab.

12-14 hour days since CNY was over chasing computer parts for factories in China. My wife is off so she's started cooking again. I've been eating very well on those nights, and for lunch the next day.

Got these installed. Needed to weld a bracket. I also got my tiller running perfect. Word of advice, just buy a whole new carb. Much easier.

Nice work. Does the tube act as a step, or just a little wrap around protection?

Made my wife a sunflower for her birthday. I thought I was going to paint it just like a sunflower, but she's into the bare metal look so I guess I'm going to find out how it fairs with clear coat. I'm a bit concerned with the overlapped parts. Anyway, the plan is to put onto a stalk (with 2-3 leaves), about 6' tall, and plant in the ground. I should have enough to make a second one, but all the hand shaping of each leaf takes time and I'm down right dreading punching all those dents again. At least I've got all the cutting and grinding done. All cutting done with my nibbler and a corded drill with a bent shaft. Each flower petal was individually cut out, ground smooth, then uniquely shaped. I finished everything with a wire brush on a drill.

Looks nice against this weathered plywood, but that's not it's final home.

Explained what I wanted to my kid and made her draw me some templates for petals, then trace as many as she could onto the sheet steel I have left over.

Cheap nibbler I got off Amazon.

Mock up from a few days ago. I was pretty much going to weld it up just like this.

Fortunately I was struck by inspiration and the shaping of each petal and the texturing of the center really brought this to a whole different level.

This piece was how I wanted to attach the stalk to the back. I thought I should weld a piece of scrap onto the rebar in case I had trouble welding something so thin to something so thick. I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty impressed with this weld. Not in a braggy sort of way, more "I can't believe I didn't burn through the thin stuff." Anyway, the plan is to tack this plate onto the back.

Even managed what appears to be penetration right on the edge of burning through. The idea was more surface area for more small tacs. Either way, should be good enough for just "art."
