Good to know. It was after hours so I sent off an email last night. I’ll wait and see, thanks for the info.

CMP got back to me relatively quickly on my inquiry. Hurry up and wait.

Your order is currently on backorder. We are waiting on the armory to increase the inventory on the Field grade rifles. The sales dept is currently working on field grade orders that were received in late June-early July.

We do appreciate your patience with the lengthy wait on your firearm. Continue to watch your email for updates and status of shipment.

Yeah, seems like they must be delivered in batches, as the CMP thread always pumps through. I spent my wait time digging for ammo, ha ha. The CMP ammo I think is the best ammo though, considering the Lapua once fired brass sells for nearly a dollar a shell!

I sent a inquiry to the CMP stating that I was I interested in acquiring a service grade in other than a Springfield and received the following reply:

CMP’s inventory is very low. We sell tens of thousands of rifles per year for the past few decades, it was bound to happen. We do continue to try and secure what little is left out there in different countries but is not a guarantee. We were inundated with orders during covid and election year and we are still trying to fill orders from a year ago for the service and field. We no longer accept mail orders for those or stock our stores with them. Instead we are building Special Rack grades and Expert Grades with GI parts, new wood and barrels to use what resources we can.

It was bound to happen, and I suspected this may be the last chance to order when I put in my order back in August '21. I just hope mine actually ship out at this point. Still waiting...

Dang, huge bummer! Too bad there's literally thousands more rifles all over the world that the US Gov't refuses to import. Glad I got mine when I did. Great freakin rifle! RTI has some if you are getting itchy.

I got an email 2 weeks ago assuring me my rifle would ship, but asking if I'd like to upgrade to a Service grade and get it sooner. I didn't have to think about. It arrived this week. I'm pleased. It's bone dry and needs a good bath, has new CMP wood, but otherwise is pretty danged nice.

You ended up with a Service grade? Nice! I upgraded to the rack special for a fresh barrel, and its in good shape! Those stocks are dry indeed.

I did. Not only that, and I was hesitant to mention it because people aren't generally excited for others good fortune, I got a '54 HRA that gauged at 3 and 2. I am pleased with my upgrade. Lucky.

Awesome! My receiver is a 6/44 production, so I'm pretty happy with that, even if the other parts have been replaced.
