    Default Topsoil and sod

I need to raise the soil level around some exposed roots around a tree in my front yard. I think I?ll need about 6 yards of soil and sod to cover it.

Any recommendations on places to call for the dirt and sod around Littleton?

    Thanks.

6 yards to cover some roots? Sounds excessive. This is 2 yards.

Note that if roots are more than 6" deep in a lot of tree species they can suffocate. Many people lose their trees after adding a lot of soil cover. And they don't breathe through the bigger exposes roots. Just a FYI if you weren't aware, but for all I know your project already factors that.

That is very true. You can kill a perfectly healthy tree in short order by messing around with the grade around it.
OP post a picture of the tree and roots. There are a couple of options but burying the exposed roots is more than likely not one of them.

ETA 6 yds is a pretty goodly amount of dirt

A yard of dirt 3" deep will cover about 100sqft. I am not in the game anymore so I do not know who is most competitive for screen topsoil these days, but you have; Santa Fe Sand and Gravel, Pioneer, Silver Crown and Titan Landscape all right there that are material yards. Green Valley Turf has historically had good quality turf and that is where we always bought our product. if I recall they may sell topsoil as well, I do not know if they will deliver though.

Straw is recommended prior to covering

Oh yeah, length by width by depth divided by 27. Measured in feet equals cubic yards.

If the tree has anything to do with this, you have other problems to solve. Unless it's a weird angle, those landscape blocks look pushed up.

Btw this is a locust tree. Would it be advisable to perhaps get alandscaper in to address it?

    Thanks!
