This is the real reason we need to be protesting. We need to decriminalize most of life, slash laws by 90%, place sunset clauses on all laws no longer than 10 years. If a law is needed, it can be repassed
I agree with portions of this.

Dude ran, punched a cop, and had a handgun.

2nd paragraph i agree with. The silly shit they pull people over for on bicycles in California is ridiculous.

Most if not all of those laws are / were written by democrats.

On the face of it pulling someone over for a minor violation may seem silly. It's not. And this instance is a perfect example. It gives officers a legal and valid reason to make a contact. And it should have resulted in a simple arrest or even just a warning. But this guy had to escalate the stop.

This is EXACTLY the type of proactive stop you should want police officers to be making.

By saying that I'm not saying the shooting was justified. I don't know enough yet to form an opinion. Stop was definitely justified.

Exactly. TONS of bad criminals are taken off the streets as a result of lawful, but initially minor, stops.

    Two real examples?

Unsafe lane change...turns out it's a car with 100lbs of meth driven by a dude with no prior record.

Turn signal infraction...turns out it's got a couple homicidal dudes high on meth who just drove from Vegas looking to kill cops.

And the list goes on and on and on...happens every day.

The unsafe lane change was a dude driving from CA in Sept 2019 around Glenwood Springs. He was doing 3 MPH over too if IIRC.

The turn signal one was a uhaul in Vail in Dec 2019.

It happens all the time. These are not extraordinary incidents. A good cop can routinely turn a burned out license plate lamp (or other minor violation) into a felony with just a few questions and good observation skills. It doesn't happen on every stop. But persistence pays off.

My theory was people who don't pay attention to small stuff (violating bike ordinances) don't pay attention to the big stuff.

Just 1 more reason to do a walk around of ones vehicle before taking a road trip. Or, when driving at night.

The recent trailer for Call of Duty: Cold War has a lot of the Marxists triggered for a couple of reasons. The first is that it calls out Communism as bad and Communists as trying to undermine American society. The second is that it features good ole Ronald Reagan for a short bit.

The segment featuring Yuri Bezmenov has a lot of people talking precisely because he outlines a Communist approach that very closely parallels the past 20-30 years in America. A better clip of former Comrade Bezmenov is featured here

By my accounting, the Leftists were into Phase 1 in the early 1990s and got into Phase 2 during the last year or two of Bush the Younger's administration. They've been trying to get into Phase 3 ever since the latter half of Obama's administration. The Occupy movement and start of BLM were all about destabilization and continue to this day with Antifa, BLM Part 2, etc. Election of AOC and "the squad", SJW redefinition of America and American society is all part of normalizing the abnormal.

The Democrats are polling very poorly based on the rioting. Was much quieter last night. Coincidence?
