Denver Public Schools discussing removing SROs?

Given the history of stupid shit happening at schools across the metro area over the past 25 years, people think this is a good idea?

It's fine to debate how much the SROs should get involved with "normal' discipline, but I sure as hell want on them campus to engage the next incel loser who decides the student body is the reason for his life failure.

Just to highlight why this is such a bad idea, we just need to look at our own local Arapahoe High School in 2013...

Karl Pierson's attack at Arapahoe High School lasted just 80 seconds, enough time to shatter Claire Davis' life and leave hundreds of other classmates in fear for their own.

And his intent was far more grave.

"His intent was evil, and his intent was to injure multiple people," Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said Saturday afternoon.

However...

The quick actions of a deputy sheriff working as the school's resource officer and an unarmed security guard undoubtedly saved lives, Robinson said. They immediately dashed from the cafeteria down a long hallway to the library while yelling for students to get down and get back.

"The shooter knew the deputy was coming," Robinson said.

Because of the actions of the SRO, the shooter self-ventilated after tasking only one innocent life as opposed to many.

How much more justification is needed to show that SRO's are an unfortunate necessity of modern schools, especially when principal/admin/teacher legal concealed carry is apparently off the table?

I would be all for removing sro's from schools if the teachers were allowed to ccw. Until then keep the sro's in place.

I agree removing SRO?s is a bad idea, but DPS does also have armed School patrol officers as does Jeffco and Aurora Public schools.
