Prices have gone full potato. The time to buy low was anytime since the 2016 election and stack it deep, unfortunately. "Good deals" now are highly relative Best options are probably to keep checking ammoseek.com and other sites like that and try to get as low a price for decent ammo as you can.

I lucked out and got 500 rounds of Herter's 9mm from Cabela's at about $.19/round the other day but I think that's probably going to be hard to find again anytime soon. Going to keep checking back.

I think your best option at this point is a dirty financial hedge.

Ammo is available - just not cheaply anymore. Buy something expected to also increase in price, and for the same reasons: perhaps gold and silver, for reasons of insecurity and political uncertainty. Use (potential) profits there to offset your increased ammo costs.

I had good luck with Sportsman Guide on some 9mm a few weeks ago. Must have found it just at the right time, it didn't last long. Ended up with 3000 rounds. I have a couple back orders in with Sportsman Guide (one of the few who will back order) for 4000 XM193, and 2000 855 estimated delivery in October and November.

Sportsman Guide does have linked 5.56, for those so endowed.
