"The French soldiers are grand. They are grand. There is no other word to express it."
- Arthur Conan Doyle, A visit to three fronts (1916)
Those who know wouldn't talk even if there was no missile. If there was, they'd have noted launch, weapon type launch signature, likely targets, and impact in real time. Might have even had a stiff drink when they got off shift and given their wife a strained grin, saying, "Nothing babe, today just seemed extra long. Crazy about Beirut, huh?"
Those who don't know, guess.

It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged. - The Cleveland Press, March 1, 1921, GK Chesterton
You can have 10 years of documented issues and warnings and clear evidence that someone's sitting on 2700 pounds of kablooey, and there's still going to be a lot of people suggesting it's a big conspiracy with the US government or the "juice" or something. Other posters have already addressed that.
Absent something with a credible basis, any further conspiracy suggestions may be removed here to keep the thread on track (this isn't the place to propose unfounded, zany theories). If they are removed, it is simply to not derail the discussion, not a personal affront to any users posting them.
ETA: Factual discussion as new aspects emerge is not what I'm talking about.
ETA2: It appears the thread mostly self corrected in the later posts.

It's Friday y'all! I took some time to review the footage taken by people in Beirut during the explosion. I'm amazed at the people who moved to try to get better footage. My first thought was to cover and grab my balls.
Six years is a long time for something to sit in warehouse. I wonder how many people were cognizant of what was in that warehouse until this past week. I can see it being a topic for a while but then gets pushed under the rug as other more pressing things come up.
More information as to the cause of the explosion:
SS Grandcamp, Apr. 1947 in port at Texas City. Approx same amount of ammonium nitrate aboard ignited. Similar devastation to the surroundings as the Beirut explosion. The ship caught fire just before the explosion.
