I've always been of the opinion that the effectiveness of signs having an impact on changing how people vote is right on par with the effort of convincing people that the signs they put up aren't effective.

Snatch up every single one you can if you can put it to any sort of real use.

So we got into this when I was involved in the Recall Morse campaign. Political signs are not "abandoned" until some time after Election Day. I think the people that placed the signs are supposed to remove them NLT 3 days after the election, maybe 1 day. After that, they are considered abandoned and you're doing a public service in removing them. Before that, you're interfering with their freedom of speech.

The simple act of placing a sign on a public easement is not abandoning the signs. In fact, you HAVE to place the signs on public easements unless you get the private property owner's concurrence.

The plastic ones are GREAT target backers. I got RecallMorse's agreement to harvest the old plastic signs (except ones they wanted to keep as memorabilia) and gave them to a local Scout camp. The plastic ones didn't succumb to rain the way the cardboard ones had.

Well until I'm arrested or charged for collecting these free target holders on public right of way, I will continue to do so.

On my drive out to Washington and back, it was surprising to see so many huge Trump 2020 signs along the drive in rural America.

Surprising? The flyover states are his bread and butter.

If we want people to respect OUR signs, we should do the same for theirs until they actually are abandoned (i.e., after the election). It doesn't do our side much good if we can be credibly accused of suppressing their "message" the way Twitter suppresses anyone they disagree with.
