I would try them both out. Find someone that has a setup that you would like to shoot and ask to run it. I shoot an acog on my tac rifle and a 1-6 on my 3gun. You can train to whichever optic you prefer. Plus the acog was actually designed to conduct cqb as well. You just have to know how to use it. Look through one at the shop, find a target with your non dominant eye while looking through the acog with your dominant eye and then see how the reticle gets superimposed on the target in your non dominant eye. Your brain does the work for you.
I run offset irons instead of a MRDS (the height over bore was just too much that I personally did not like it) , just in case the acog gets messed up at the worst time. It's the same setup I ran for 5 deployments and I never had to use the irons unless I wanted to. I did however break 3 aimpoints and 2 Eotechs.
