    Default Rules on handguns.

So I know that the rule for buying is 21yo. Is 21 the rule for possession too? If an 18yo builds a pistol is that legal?

Junior thinks the MP5 is awesome, too much gaming I guess.
Apparently there are build kits out there and he is thinking about building one.

The state law for handgun possession is 18.

Only reason you can't buy one under 21 is because of the 4473. Welcome to build one at 18

For an HK build, better have a welder. For an AR that uses HK style mags. not an issue.

A HK build is definitely not a first timer build. Even from a completed receiver the trunnion needs welded in place, barrel pressed and pinned in to the trunnion, triple frame & cocking tube aligned, correctly clearanced and welded.
It has to be perfect or its not gonna run.

You do not have to be 21 either to purchase or possess a handgun. You have to be 18 or have a parent's or guardian's permission. You do have to be 21 to purchase or transact a handgun through an FFL.

In Colorado you cannot purchase without involving an FFL, except for C&R, antiques, or from an immediate family member. So, you'll have to build or inherit a handgun if you want something not C&R or antique.
