Default An NFL "Protest" I wholly support...

Saw this while searching for something else:

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/alejand...152737375.html

Only one Steelers player covered up the name of a police shooting victim on his helmet

The Pittsburgh Steelers wore the name Antwon Rose Jr. on the backs of their helmets on Monday night to honor the victims of systemic racism. Rose, a 17-year-old Black teenager who was killed by East Pittsburgh police in 2018, was chosen after the team took a vote.

On Monday night, one Steelers player did not wear Rose?s name on the back of his helmet. Offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva covered up Rose?s name with tape and wrote Alwyn Cashe over it. Cashe was a Black US Army sergeant who served in Iraq and died of injuries he sustained while on tour there.

Villanueva is an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan as a Ranger, and earned the Bronze Star for rescuing wounded soldiers while under enemy fire.
Villanueva was also the only Steelers player to come out for the national anthem in 2017 after the entire team voted to stay in the locker room in protest.

Antwon Rose Jr had been involved in a drive-by shooting earlier in the evening. When the car was pulled over, Antwon ran, and during the chase antwon was shot. Multiple firearms were recovered from the pulled-over vehicle, and gunshot residue was found on antwon's hands.

Sure seems like lots of their "victims of racism" are criminals....

Hopefully other players will start to follow Villanueva's example.

I read this the other day. Villanueva has his priorities straight.

I'd like to see more of this type of behavior, but I'm not watching pro sports because I want to see patriotic Americans playing a game, not SJWs going political. They can be as political as they want to be on their own time and on their own dime.

It's crazy to think that, in the year 2020, Villanueva's stance is the brave one that goes against the tide. Unreal.

Stopped watching "professional" sports for the most part awhile ago. I feel that any player that takes advantage of the stage he / she gets payed to thier sport for to voice his / her political or personal feelings shouldn't be getting paid. I don't give a crap about your opinions just do what your getting paid to do.

Agreed, Bravo Zulu to Villanueva. HTH the rest of the players thought Rose was a “victim” or deserved to be honored ... FFS.

Another Steelers player Pouncey (their center) is refusing to where the name now. He actually supports the police in a recent story on The Blaze.
