    Default Plain-jane 6.8SPC upper

I think I'd like a plain-Jane 6.8SPC upper for hog hunting. Probably shooting the 85gr TSX.

Stag and Rock River each have a $525 offering.

The Stag looks promising with its 1:11" twist, but the Rock River has the presumably more-desirable mid-length gas-system.

    Any suggestions either way?

I would use your 260 unless you just want to spend money...

    I was seriously eyeing it.

The "problem" is that at ~12lbs and 43" OAL it's not exactly "handy".

I was thinking a basic 16" 6.8SPC upper with a Cavalry Arms lower would be closer to 8lbs and 34".

For comparison, the rifle I shot @ Johnson 3Gun weighs 7.67lbs with the JP medium-profile 18" barrel, JP forend, TA11H ACOG and Eagle (Cavalry) Arms lower.

I would look at some of the Titan or Bison Armory bbls. Both have proper specs. The titan extreme bbls are DMR chambered and the Bison are SPC II. Both have proper twists. The Titans will be a little more, while Bison has just started filling the void left by Cardinal/Ko-Tonics. Both can build you complete uppers if you like.

Have you ever heard of AR15 Performance down in Pueblo?

Yes, they are probably the best spec'd bbls out there but they are expensive for his recons. From what I've heard they are worth it. AR15performace and Titan Armory hooked up and are producing the Extreme bbls as a joint effort. I can't remember the exact line, but it seems something like all orders west of the Miss. River go to AR15Performace and all easy go to Titan. I honesly can remember the exact line, but it's something like that.

There's ton's of info at 68forums about both of them and they are both active posters there. There's also a lot of reviews abouth both of them and Bison bbls from posters there as well.

The HMFIC there, Harrison, shot in the first PD match in Pueblo. He has never come back to a PD match or come out to shoot one of his 6.8s in a rifle match. He lives in Pueblo West...
