Has anyone had any experience with the .50GI conversion kits for the Glocks? I wonder about availability of ammo and the cost.

Loaded ammo is pretty much mail order only. You wont be finding it at most gun shops.
Even reloading is expensive. Bullets and brass are up there *and* hard to find.
Its a bad deal all around.
You know I like my coffee sweet in the morning
and I'm crazy about my tea at night
I looked into a 50 GI conversion for a 1911, and found all the same issues Hoser lists. With all the issues, there just wasn't enough reason for me to get one and I didn't want to deal with the headache. Especially since .45 is so easy to get stuff for. It's sort of like the .50 Beowulf issue, only stuff for the Beowulf is easier to get. Hence, my .458 SOCOM...
Thanks for the responses. I figured the ammo would be an issue, but it sure looks like fun to shoot.
Not to mention the "make my day" factor of looking at the size of a .50cal muzzle hole at the end of your Glock.
Oh, I think I'm getting a woody again thinking about it.![]()

I bet if you buy the gun, and it never sees a single round down the barrel, you're friends will be just as impressed when you let them hold it.![]()
"There are no finger prints under water."
Tell them "Yes, you just have to provide the ammo."

I went to the Guncrafter Industries website <http://www.guncrafterindustries.com/sneakpreview.shtml> and looked up the conversion for the Glock 21. It's priced at $595.00. That is not bad at all.
Ammo is not that bad either, Loaded Ammunition:
50GI Factory Ammunition
#GI300A 300gr. JFP 700 fps 20/rds. $23.25 #GI185A 185 gr. CHP 1200 fps 20/rds $38.25
#GI275A 275gr. JHP 875 fps 20/rds. $24.75 #GI230A 230gr. CHP 1000 fps 20/rds $38.25
The Copper Hollow Points (CHP) are the ones that blossom out over an inch in diameter!
Maybe this is not a far fetched idea after all.![]()
